The strip of South Congress in Austin, Texas, is a haven for fabulous vintage haunts. New Bohemia is one of the bigger stores with something for everyone. Their attached Men's section is dubbed New Brohemia, and it has more western shirts and cowboy boots that one could possibly need - but that doesn't mean you don't want them!

    Uncommon Objects

    1512 S. Congress

    Austin, TX

Uncommon Objects deserves its name. When you walk into this mighty and magnificent space, you are greeted by objects of all kinds, all of them unique in their own quirky way.

If you manage to peel yourself off from the glass jewelry displays, take a walk through the entire space. The store is divided into tiny vignettes that neatly guide you from one spot to the next. Each little display has a theme and a quirk or two, and you can easily spend many minutes admiring each little component that makes it.

Lucky for us, they let me snap a few photos for the blog, so you can admire some of my favorite vignettes, all reminiscent of a Joseph Cornell box. I love imagining the stories behind each.

A travelling theme with a suitcase, photos to remember people by and the doll you haven't been able to part with since childhood...

Like an organized attic, this display has shelves and shelves of curiosities, from cooking to sewing and more.

A bohemian raphsody, complete with acoustic guitar, playmasks, a drinks tray and a taxidermied bear. Wait, am I back in Brooklyn?

The garden cocktail: not with crème de violette, but with innocent-looking seafoam green poison bottles. Stirring tools included.

The vanity tells a story: trying to get ready on time, putting on perfume and fixing the loose button.

Pretty in pink with gloves, hat boxes, veils, flowers and all things feminine and fabulous.

A little Chinoisererie, complete with corded fringe, a lucite bag and tins that hide secrets.

Get your blue prints done while glancing at a few cute pinups during work breaks. Stayed too late? Slip into a fresh new western shirt.

  • vintage chevy and vintage leopard print coat

I have a new goal in life: to be featured on Advanced Style.

That's it.  That's all I want from life anymore.

I think I may be on my way, especially after this outfit! I wore it last Saturday to brunch, when i was so exhausted I didn't know what to wear. I am so tired of winter!

The solution? Pile as much crazy furry vintage as you can, slip into your shearling boots, oversized sunglasses and go drink a couple of Ramos Fizzes at Walter Foods with brunch. You'll be revived and as good as new. And if egg white in your drink is not your thing, we'll you're a wimp. Or you can try the oyster shooter.

    Outfit details:

Fox fur hat, vintage via the Manhattan Vintage Show (I gave Kate's back).

    Sunglasses, vintage

Paisley scarf, vintage via Old Hollywood

60s leopard print coat, via Lotus Vintage

    Jeans, Adriano Goldschmied

    Boots, Sven via Catbird

    Bag, Antik Batik

    vintage chevy car

On the way to Walters we saw this toothpaste green Chevy, and I thought it was just too awesome not to be in the picture. Don't you love it?

My favorite part? The die locks!

  • Model On Duty: Market Publique Shoot from Greta Eagan on Vimeo.

We met Greta when she came over to check out the Market Publique Studio during NYFW. She was way too adorable, so we asked her if she would model for us for an upcoming photoshoot. Greta said yes, and voilá, here's the behind-the-scenes video of when we made it happen!

Ben Kaufman did a fantastic job with the photos, which will be up soon! I did the hair, makeup and styling with the assitance of Joan Costello.  I can't wait to show you guys! And yes, I wore a sequined sweater while at it. Why not? Sequins are a basic.

We loved working with Greta. Not only is she stylish and gorgeous, she is super sweet, super positive and energetic and always on the lookout for things that make the world better - like being sustainable and looking fabulous while you're at it.

Look for more collaborations with Greta and Market Publique in the future, as this is one girl we're not missing a chance to work with any time soon! Thank you for everything Greta!
