Vintage Lobster Belt Buckle, from Mooi Vintage

This dress has to be one of my absolute favorites. It was listed on Market Publique for a nanosecond, at a pretty high price, mostly because I felt attached and didn't really want to sell it, but also because it is AWESOME - I mean: rainbow stripes, diagonals, one-shoulder sihouette, soft & drapey fabric... what's not to like???!!!! So I decided to not relist it and add it to my collection of Summer dresses - and I never looked back! Sometimes you just have to keep a thing or two...

I wore it with this amazing lobster belt from Mooi Vintage, which I had been debating to get or not to get for weeks... Until I finally broke down and bought it. After all, lobsters (and especially lobster rolls) are one of my favorite things about summer, and this buckle would enhance my vintage buckles collection, which includes designs by Mimi di N & Dottie Smith, and others (no Christopher Ross yet... I'm saving up!). I collect the buckles because they usually feature quirky animals (my weakness), and the belt strips are interchangeable, ensuring tons of use and many looks.

After a full day of work, I met up with Sammy, who found me some more of these awesome belt buckles, and after freaking out over some vintage (me over hers, she over mine), she did a quick outfit change with a romper she fell in love with at the studio, and we went out for some long overdue margaritas.

On the way to Cariño, we found this amazing grafitti, and we had to pose in front of it...

And when she won a gift certificate to Market Publique, we were not surprised when she chose this vintage heart print dress from the 50s to spend it on. The dress, from Market Publique seller Jen Fitch Style, is a prime example of the 50s with its New Look silhouette and charming novelty print. And, like everything else in this shop, it was handpicked by Jen Fitch herself, ensuring its excellent condition.

We loved how Maria paired it with an ornamental lace collar, wide brown belt, preppy white socks & high-heeled oxfords. A straw hat and winged eyeliner complete the look.

The perfect vintage country chic look. Now if we could only find field like that in NYC...

New York has been a scorcher - but I don't mind. I love warm weather and don't complain about it because my motto is I can only complain about one kind of weather - too hot or too cold. If I complain about both, then I go over my complaining quota for the year. So hurray for extra hot weather (have you met me during winter? Hate it).

During the warm monts I gravitate towards vintage sundresses, flat sandals and hats. I found this amazing one at Fluke in lime green and cream stripes and big creamy yellow buttons, which reminds me of key lime pie with a graham cracker crust - delicious!

I paired it with this amazing boater hat from Hold My Gold, which owner Erica sent me over as a gift. We become fast friends and have some fun suprises in store for you - stay tuned as she makes a comeback on Market Publique because Hold My Gold is moving to New York City!! Hotness indeed.

Jessica came to our studio a couple of weeks ago and borrowed some of her favorite pieces to style them up and incorporate them into her wardrobe.

Last week she wore a fabulous fur and wool coat and gloves, and this week she wore one of my favorite dresses ever: A teal and black jersey dress with mitered stripes on the top to create a chevron and a v-neck on the front and on the back. It also has cute ballerina sleeves and a full gathered skirt - what more could a girl want?

Of course, we knew this dress was too adorable not to get all sorts of attention... I mean, the stripes! the V! the chevron!

Plus Jessica always knows how to accessorize it just right! :) (Also, big news: she just got engaged! Hop on over to her blog and leave a comment to congratulate her!)

I am feeling a deep need for color these days... While I don't usually don't wear pink, I thought this dress was so cute I would wear it.
