Shopping at the Brooklyn Flea

Saturday was sweltering, but Liz and I decided to brave the Brooklyn Flea.  A little birdie (a.k.a. Twitter) told us that Sammy D was going to be selling June, so we couldn't miss it. We had a really fun time trying things on and even doing an entire wardrobe change, and we scored way to many cute things for our own good.

Here's a few of our favorite booths:

Joan Van Hees

Joan's booth was right on the front, and as soon as we walked into the market we were drawn in by millions and millions of shiny sequins. She had a fabulous selection of sequined mini dresses and tops, a frothy hot pink tulle frock (I wanted it!!!), and designer shoes.

I looked through a rack of cute little sundresses, and fell in love with a black and white one that was so cute I did a wardrobe change and wore it right then and there!

Joan at her booth in the Brooklyn Flea. Her tent is red, which gives everyone a nice and healthy glow. And yes, I gave her one of our postcards...

Brooklyn Flea Vintage

Vintage sequin top Brooklyn Flea

Liz loved this dramatic sequined top.

vintage maud frizon

An array of designer shoes, including a super-covetable Maud Frizon pair.

vintage black and white sundress

My new acquisition: black and white sundress from Van Hees Vintage. It was lucky enough to go perfectly with my Valentino wedges, and 50s cateyes, and a vintage candy colored Murano glass necklace. And as you know, my vintage Gucci purses go with everything (according to me)!

vintage pink tulle cocktail dress

I also wanted this pink tulle dress, but it was tiny!

Dulcinée

I got so excited about the array of clothes at this booth, that I forgot to take pictures! I tried fifty million things and finally settled on a purple and white sundress with rhinestones (which I will wear to our Meetup tonight!), and the most perfect little black dress in lace. It's super Marilyn monroe, and it fit like a glove. Strapless, fitterd wtith a pencil skirt - flawless!

Liz also scored an adorable red tunic with floral cutouts, which she is also wearing today! See her outfit here.

Sammy D Vintage

The reason for this whole trip was to visit Sammy during her first foray into selling the Flea. We stopped at her booth, filled with all sorts of new goodies, including impeccable shoe clips, which I am currently obsessed with. I also finally broke down and bought a little sequined bolero that I think I've tried on every time I've been to her booth. As Liz pointed out, it would go perfectly with my new lace dress frm Dulcinée. She also bought the cutest cloisonné rope belt. You can see it on her blog!

sammy davis vintage

An array of accessories at Sammy Davis Vintage, including a shoe clip threaded with a vintage scarf, which you can wear tied around your arm or as a headband (my suggestion... be on the lookout for our upcoming post on new ways to wear vintage shoe clips, coming soon!)

liz

Liz, in front of Sammy's booth, picked up this adorable vintage bowling bag in the most unusual shade of grape. She put it down after noticing the zipper pull was missing, only to realize that it was just $10! A savvy onlooker snatched it right up and regret creeped in... Don't worry Liz, we'll find you a similar one!

sequin top

Liz helped me do the hooks and eyes on this cute little sequined top from Sammy D Vintage and I decided I had to have it! Plus the Sammy Sweltering Sale helped...

Tessi + June

Next to Sammy's booth we chatted with June at her booth, also filled with amazing goodies.

Funky Family Vintage

We also stoped by Alexis' booth, Funky Family Vintage. She had bright shoes and accessories on display, and all red items were on sale for $10!
