Leaf Peeping in New Paltz, NY

fall foliage

With Thanksgiving over with, winter has arrived in full-force. So I'm reminiscing of a lots of good times I had this fall, including a couple adventures...

A few weekends ago, our friends, Jon and I went to admiring the changing foliage of the deciduous trees in upstate New York. It was cold as hell, and since we've had such great weather in New York City, I was slightly unprepared. Still, we warmed up with soup, cider and a brisk walk. Here are some photos from our trip...

Lake Mini Ewaska

Our spot: Lake Minnewaska, near New Paltz, NY

vintage metallic xmas sweater

I had stopped to do a little thrifting on the way, and it's a good thing I did! It was chillier that expected, and Matt had not won a jacket at all – so he borrowed this metallic bow sweater dress from my thrifting finds. I think it looks great on him! Since he is so tall, it looks more like a regular sweater than a dress...

Jon made my hands sweat by standing too close to the edge. Arrgghhh, I can't believe the picture came out sharp, I was trembling as I took it.

Since leaf-peeping was the main objective, we took a lot of nature shots.

matt & margo

Here's Matt & Margo posing for a picture. Margo was the only one prepared for the weather in a vintage plaid cape that went perfectly with the foliage. Admire the metallic 80s awesomeness on Matt.

Ah, the foliage!

hiding amongst the bushes

Look! I am hiding! I decided to sneak into these burgundy bushes, as they were exactly the same hue as my vintage leather jacket, which I got as a gift from Jon's grandma (it used to be hers!). I love the ruched shoulders!

New Paltz, NY

The view was incredible! It really makes me want to go back in the summer to swim in the lake.

Here is Jon again; and again standing too close to the edge (for my level of comfort, at least). We're really into oxblood right now, as evidenced by his oxblood wallabees and my burgundy coat. I think his vintage Carrera aviators have a tingue of oxblood as well...

bubble lens

Jon also took a bunch of nature shots, including this one with this fun bobble lens of his. Cool effect, right?
