Introducing - An Exclusive Vintage Collection from DLC Brooklyn for Market Publique

DLC Brooklyn + Market Publique

Exclusive vintage collection by DLC Brooklyn for Market Publique - Launching Sept 1st! Photography by Meg Shoemaker.

DLC Brooklyn was born from Susan Domelsmith’s pioneering vision to reconfigure and deconstruct hand selected vintage pieces through draping, knotting and tangling, a style that has become a fashion mainstay. Susan’s unique craftsmanship is an art that she has mastered since 2004, which she continuously updates to keep her far ahead of the curve.

Since DLC Brooklyn uses all vintage materials, designer Susan Domelsmith has sifted through thousands of pieces over the six years that she has been collecting the components of her unique jewelry.  Some of these pieces were too special to disassemble, and from this collection that have come to us from all over the globe, we offer you hand picked pieces from the DLC vintage vaults.

Susan's pieces have appeared in Nylon, Jalouse, Jane and Vogue China, as well as being featured on the cover of Teen Vogue (June/July 2006). Jessica Alba, Debbie Harry, Kate Hudson, Eve, Jessica Szohr, KT Tunstall, Ellen Allien, Holly Williams, Peaches and members of bands like Yacht, Vivian Girls, Ladytron, and Rilo Kiley have been seen wearing pieces from the line.

We are thrilled to have Susan open her vintage vault to us, and present her one-of-a-kind finds to the Market Publique community on September 1st.

Bloggers Love Market Publique

We love to see how people wear their unique vintage finds from Market Publique, and who better to show us than some of our favorite bloggers?

We get extra excited when we ship something to a blogger or nearby, because it's so much more exciting when you get to see the item again, incorporated into somebody's wardrobe. And since bloggers share their personal style on a regular basis, chances are the piece we should shipped will show up in one of their outfit posts one day or another... so much fun!

Here's a few of the bloggers who have been wearing vintage from Market Publique lately...

Krystal from This Time Tomorrow wearing Market Publique

Krystal from This Time Tomorrow, wearing vintage YSL Cateye Sunnies from Market Publique

When Krystal decided to go for it and splurge on the YSL sunnies, I knew she wouldn't regret it. A day after she received them, she wore them out and paired them with an awesome black and white jacket, and yellow blouse. Doesn't the whole outfit look amazing?

Lena of Quality Rivets wearing Market Publique

Lena of Quality Rivets wearing a vintage blouse from Market Publique

Lena, who was one of the winners of our Chic & Fuzzy contest, decided to spend her gift certificate on this adorable floral tunic. We love how she accented it with the bright blue bag!

Elizabeth of White Lightning wearing Market Publique

Elizabeth came over to our studio a few days ago and instantly fell in love with this paisley mini dress. And of course, anything looks good with those Miu Miu clogs!

Sammy of Sammy D Vintage wearing Market Publique

Sammy of Sammy D Vintage wearing a vintage romper from Sweet Virginia on Market Publique

Sammy found this cut-out romper on one of our racks, as I was debating wether or not I should get it for myself. But after seeing Sammy try it on, it was clear it was meant to be hers. It fit her like a globe and went fabulously with her fun and outrageous personality. She decided to wear it immediately, and walking down the street to get a couple margaritas we saw this car and seized the photo op.

How do you wear your vintage? Have you bought a unique piece from Market Publique that you've been wearing to death? Show us!!! We would love to see it and even feature your photo on our blog!

Spring & Summer Outfit Recipes

We're really excited for the warm weather, and have been planning outfits in our head for weeks. Here's a few of the options we came up with, all with vintage from Market Publique.

Who says you can't wear vintage head to toe?  Follow our recipe for success: the trick is to mix eras, and keep color paletters and textures on the same page. Add your own sunglasses and head outside!

Proper in Plaid Outfit

Proper Plaids

Ingredients

- Vintage Paul Stuart Dress, Jen Fitch Style

- Vintage Reconstructed Pocket Watch Necklace, Corvus Noir

- Vintage Bottega Veneta Bucke Bag, Dusty Rose Vintage

- Vintage Woven Peeptoe Pumps, Miskabelle

Directions

We loved this plaid dress from Jen Fitch Style. It's looks like it could be from Steven Alan circa now, but it's really from the 80s! The wooden buttons are especially adorable, as is the flirty bubble hem. We decided to pair these with woven accessories to echo the plaid print, and the green rosary beads in the Corvus Noir necklace tied the look together.

Vintage Striped Romper

Apple of My Eye

Ingredients

- 60s Striped Blue Romper, The Frippery

- Vintage Sarah Coventry Apple Earrings, Market Publique House Store

- Vintage Anne Klein Bag, Strim Vintage

- Vintage Perforated Wedges, Le Proust Vintage

Directions

When we saw this romper, we almost bought it and headed to the Hampton Jitney! We loved how The Frippery paired it with a red bow belt, so we added some red accessories and what do you think when you think red? APPLES! Voilá - top with apple earrings.

Rainbow Brite

Rainbow Bright

Ingredients

- Christian Dior Black Blouse, Amarcord

- Armani Denim Skirt, Amarcord

- Vintage Rainbow Belt, Amarcord

- Triple Fish Necklace, Market Publique House Store

- Coach Mini Station Bag, Jen Fitch Style

- Red Huarache Flats, Sweet Virginia

Directions

We love livening up basics (i.e. denim & black top), with bright accessories. Amarcord added its own vintage rainbow woven belt, and we echoed the woven colors in these red huaraches from Sweet Virginia. For a whimsical touch, try the three fish necklace.

Vintage Cacharel Maxi Dress

Peachy Keen

Ingredients

- Cacharel Floral Maxi Dress, Jen Fitch Style

- Vintage Reconstructed Multi-Chain and Bow Necklace, Clyde's Rebirth

- Cream Clutch, Market Publique House Store

- Brown Woven Huarache Sandals, Sweet Virginia

Directions

There's nothing more essential for spring than a breezy floral cotton dress. We love the blush tone-on-tone florals of this Cacharel dress, so we kept the look simple with classic multi-chain necklace livened up with peach bows, a crisp cream clutch and basic brown huarache sandals.

Beach Bound

Beach Bound

Ingredients

- Sunshine Yellow Blouse, Amarcord Vintage

- Caribbean Isles Tote, Amarcord

- Armani Denim Skirt, Amarcord

- Frank Olive Captain's Hat, Jen Fitch Style

- White Huarache Flats, Sweet Virginia

- Bright Orange Bracelet, Market Publique House Store

Directions

Head to Montauk with this beachy outfit, perfect for lounging in the sand. Bright sunshine yellow breezy top can act as a cover up after you take a dip. Toss all your essentials into this whimsical extra-large tote and shield yourself from the sun in a glam captain's hat.

Vintage Dresses for Prom

Prom is right around the corner. Make sure you stand out of the crowd.

1920's prom

This awesome picture of a 1920's prom was found on the Black Tie Guide

This celebrated event consists of getting groovy on the dance floor, butterflies in your stomach prompted by your dreamy date, and sharing laughs and making memories between friends and classmates.

Though prom night alone is associated with merriment and enjoyment, everyone knows that the best part of prom is dressing for the occasion! The hunt for the perfect dress sparks the excitement and evokes an adrenaline rush months before prom is even visible on your calendar.

Choosing a vintage dress will absolutely limit the chances (by a good decade or two, or three, or four) of someone else showing up in the same dress. That happened to me at my prom, it’s not cool, and it completely diminishes all things “special” for the evening. To avoid that, check out what we have in store!

Look no further for a truly unique, one of a kind, jaw-dropping dress you can cut a rug in. Check out these vintage finds currently available online.
