Out photoshoot with Rebecca of The Clothes Horse!

When fashion blogger Rebecca, better known as The Clothes Horse, told us she was going to be in town for New York Fashion Week, we decided to invite her to our studio to play dress-up and do a photoshoot.

The result are these amazing photos, a true collaboration between The Clothes Horse and Market Publique. We had so much fun, and I think you can tell in the photos! Most vintage items are available for sale now, so don't miss out!

See more photos from our fashion story and shop the shoot, including vintage pieces from the Market Publique House Store, Rabbits, Corvus Noir and Dusty Rose Vintage.

Vested Interest - The Clothes Horse does Librarian Chic

The Clothes Horse in a vintage Vest by Market Publique

I adore black. Yes, I live in New York and we're famous for donning the 'color' head-to-toe often, but I've loved it all my life. No, I was never 'a goth'. I've just always loved black.

I also love red. You will soon get a peek at my 10+ collection of red shoes - a Dorothy complex indeed. And I've been wearing my knit red hat a lot this winter.

And, I love red and black together, expecially with a strategically-placed graphic splash of white (or cream). For the longest time in the early 90s I shyd away from the combo – the Chicago Bulls were way too popular for anyone to see the colors and not immediately think of them. But nowadays, its most appropriate!

So when Rebecca posted her 'librarian chic' outfit of red, black and cream, I adored it. The vest is on loan from Market Publique and will be available for purchase soon. We love how she belted it! And we love the tiny grid of squares and the gold buttons. It's the perfect layering piece. See more of her forrest outfit pictures on her blog.

Foamy Mugs on Lapels

Vintage Rhinestone Mug Brooch, Market Publique. Gifted to Rebecca.

Vintage Rhinestone Mug Brooch, Market Publique. Gifted to Rebecca.

Along with the plaid skirt we lent Rebecca of The Clothes Horse (skirt will be for sale soon!), we also sent her one of my favorite vintage finds as a gift: this adorable rhinestone-encrusted foamy mug pin. I just think it's so whimsical - who would have thought rhinestones on foam would work? But when you see it, it's genius! The shiny stones remind you of glistening bubbles, daintily topping a sturdy mug.

I would think this is a beer mug, best worn out to a biergarten in the summer, but when I saw it on Rebecca's lapel, it struck me: maybe it's filled with hot cocoa, topped with chantilly cream and the rhinestones are marshmallows? Either way, I think it's adorable, and I am glad that Rebecca found it as amusing as we and the pin has now found an excellent new home.

Blogger Rebecca, of The Clothes Horse, in Prim Plaid from Market Publique

We've been fans and readers of The Clothes Horse for a while, and have been inspired by  Rebecca's unique style for months. We especially love her penchant to find the perfect pair of tights to pair with each piece - including our very own plaid skirt, which she borrowed and paired with some rust colored tights. We think it was an excellent choice over the knee high socks.

Here's a peek at her outfit, but visit her awesome blog for more pics. The skirt is on loan, along with a few other pieces we sent her, so if she doesn't decide to keep it (tempting, tempting!), it will be listed on the Market Publique House Store for sale soon!
