Vintage Babe of the Day

Our vintage babe of the day isss......Madonna! Yes, it's cliche of me to pick Madonna, she is an icon after all, BUT this photo was too good to pass up. It screams 80s new wave and I'm all about it. Despite her serious face, her free spirit still shines through especially through her clothing. She may be the most successful female recording artist of all time but in my opinion, her role in fashion is just as important and credible. Thanks Madonna for beign fabulous!

"Better to live one year as a tiger, then a hundred as sheep."

-Madonna

Laura Lombardi x Market Publique Exclusive Jewelry Collection

Laura Lombardi Tephra Ring

Laura Lombardi has created five new cosmically-inspired pieces for her collaboration with Market Publique.

Using carefully selected vintage and repurposed materials, each piece is crafted by hand in Laura's studio. The jewelry depicts Laura's signature egyptian and tribal motifs while incorporating her new obsession with astronomy.

For the exclusive Market Publique pieces, she used thin chains, repeating half-moon shapes, and spherical components to create items that are totally wearable and completely out of this world.

Featured Blogger: Chanelle Laurence of The Penelope Times

Here on the MP blog we're excited to announce a new weekly feature. We love bloggers and thought, why not celebrate their style and love for vintage by featuring a new blogger every week? Hence, the Featured Blogger series begins!

In part one, you'll get to meet the blogger, her style, inpiration and more. Then, later that week, the featured blogger will pick their favorite vintage items on Market Publique, giving you exclusive insight into how she incorporates vintage into her wardrobe and how she achieves her style that we have grown to admire.

We decided that we should start the feature with our new Social Media Manager and blogger extraordinaire, Chanelle Laurence!

Chanelle and I have been internet friends via the vintage trade for a while. She has her own shop on Market Publique, Penelope's Vintage, as well as writing the fabulous blog The Penelope Times

We finally met in person when I visited LA about a month ago, and we hit it off! We talked about everything from vintage, to food, dancing, shopping, you name it! Chanelle embodies the spirit behind what we are doing and what we want to do here at Market Publique and organically we just decided that she should help amplify our voice through blogging and social media! And voilá - she became Market Publique's new Social Media Manager over some lattes at Handsome Coffee!

Below is her interview, I hope you enjoy it and get to meet tons of bloggers with our new weekly feature, conceptualized by Chanelle herself!

Name: Chanelle Laurence

Blog: The Penelope Times

City: Los Angeles

How did you start blogging? I originally started blogging because I wanted to share my humorous experiences galavanting around Hollywood. It eventually turned into a blog for my vintage store, Penelope's Vintage, and has evolved into a personal style blog.

How would you describe your style? vintage, edgy, bright and fun.

Are you a vintage lover?  Why? Hell. Yes. Vintage is who I am, I strongly believe I was born in the wrong era and would give anything to transport myself back to the 60s. I love vintage because it's like time is frozen and you can own that piece of time and recreate it or live it again.

What is your favorite era? Why? As I said above, the 60s. I love how transitional and experimental it was, it was a mix of styles and that's my favorite type of fashion.

What are your go-to items right now? Any type of dress I can reach! LA is so hot right now I'm just trying to stay cool. Also, my new Miista Alka shoes.

How do you mix vintage into your wardrobe? I like to have a vintage piece be one of the main pieces and then work around it and if I don't end up doing that I will accessorize with vintage.

Who is your vintage fashion icon? Edie Sedgwick. Her free spirit and epic fashion choices are everything.

Present day fashion icon? Hate to be predictable but, the Olsen twins.

What is your favorite thing about Market Publique? As a seller I love the variety of vintage listed on there and I also appreciate how everyone can be seen on it. As a buyer, I appreciate those reasons as well.
