Featured Store - Fluke, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Fluke, on Whyte Avenue between N. 6th and N.5th St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Fluke has to  be one of my favorite vintage stores ever. My friends who have gone shopping with me there can attest to it. One time it took my best friend, Heewon, about half an hour to convince me to take off a Victor Costa ruffled dress that didn't really fit and talk somse sense into me so I would by only five instead of the six items I wanted that day alone...

You could say Fluke is my little problem... But it's also my joy! I've really bought waaay too many items there over the years: the only romper that has ever fit me right (with a Blossom-like print!), a red Carlos Falchi belt, another belt with tarot cards on it, court shoes, a green ruffled shirt, two black bags (one snakeskin, one not), a Norma Kamali fleece wrap dress... and that's just what I remember right now (I'll try to take pictures to show you). But all of them are safely in my closet, and in heavy rotation.

But enough about me... and more about the store! The airy space is only a few paces of the popular North 6th St in Williamsburg, on Wythe avenue. As you're walking by, a rack of clothes outside on the ramp and a little dog doorstopper lure you in. Once you open the door, be prepared to hooked by the amazing hand-picked selection of pristine vintage from the 50s to the early 90s. Pieces are always unique and always on trend, and there's really something for everyone.

All the pieces have something special, something off-key, much like the store's decor: a nice big slouchy bag next to another dog scultpure, a selection of boots near some vintage dolls. If you're like me, you'll browse through every rack and then collapse on the chaise lounge in despair that you can't choose which items you are willing to leave behind. Good luck with that.
