Rabbits at 120 Havermeyer. Pink walls! A chandelier! Chanel! How much fun can a store be?

Located on the corner of Grand and Havermeyer, Rabbits is a jewel of a store. The owner, Saori, fills it up with off-kilter unique vintage she gets in her native Japan, as well as other places like France.

Last time I was there I saw everything from a clutch made of metallic kimono fabric, to an array of colorful shoes, to Chanel purses and Hermès scarves. Mixing high and low is the moto of this store, which stocks fashionable, trendy lower-prices items with rare Roberta di Camerino pieces and deadstock Ungaro aviators.

The service is always friendly, and you're required to have fun at the dressing room since it has hot pink velvet curtains and oversized black and white patterned wall paper.

Plus you're sure to find a good statement-making piece no matter your budget: see that patent leather bow belt attacked with a Beddazzler draped on the chair? It's my new statement-making piece, and it already made its debut at the Samantha Pleet show / party last Friday. Make sure you are on the look out for my review of Samantha's Fall '09 line on Jargol.com soon. And, of course, pay Rabbits a visit!

A big chair at Rabbits, with a small suitcase filled with vintage scarves. My new beddazled belt calls my name from the other side of the lens. No wonder I had to bring it home with me!
