Market Publique is on Time Out Chicago!
We were featured in last week's issue of Time Out Chicago! We are waiting for a scan of the printed piece to show you and glue to our scrapbooks, but in the meantime, you can check the article about 'Cool Vintage Shopping Websites' by Kevin Aeh and Jessica Herman online.
We'll expand the story for you a bit...
Essentially eBay for womens’ vintage clothing and accessories, this less-than-two-year-old Brooklyn-based site accepts attire from mostly the ’60s to the late ’90s.
We're only a little over six months old, so it's nice to think that people think we're older, and more established... We're dreaming of how glamourous we will be once we turn two...
We're also compared to eBay a lot because we use the auction format, but we're pretty different:
We actually care about what gets listed on our website, and we take great care in reviewing and approving prospective sellers. Once those sellers are part of Market Publique, we value them and respect them, giving them flexibility in the way they post & present their listings, providing excellent customer service, and supporting them to get their product photos or store templates to look better if they need it.
We also keep the listing and comission fees affordable, clear and simple, with no extra hidden fees for listing duration, starting price, or number of photos. All our listings are $0.25 to list, and we take 5% if the item sells.
Our site is exclusively for vintage, and we designed it a way that helps shoppers get the vintage piece they want - there's no searching and sifting through irrelevant items or vintage reproductions, a great 'window-shopping' interface for browsing that features at-a-glance details, and large pictures of every product available.
Find a smattering of designer pieces, from a Pucci “stewardess” dress (around $658) to Chanel sling-back flats (around $268).

We do have a smattering of designer pieces, with that Pucci dress being an actual, original stewardess dress designed by Pucci for Braniff Airlines circa 1965, no quotation marks necessary. But we also have a lot of more affordable, stylish and statement-making pieces that are special no its own, no designer label necessary. Still curious about the Chanel flats?
Best of all: Not only does Marketpublique fabulously style the garments on hipster-looking models, but pretty much every piece in the outfit comes from the site’s collection…so if you fancy the whole look, you buy it from head to toe.
Alas, we're hipsters - we do live in Williamsburg and wear vintage all the time. And yes, our models are usually hipsters themselves, rocking out in bands or dancing the night away at Mehanata. And while we mix vintage and new to freshen up our look, we do try to make everything available for purchase, so you can have a pinch of a personal stylist available at your literal fingertips.
Thank you to Time Out for featuring us, especially alongside some of our favorite vintage haunts!
