Weekend Update: Indie Veggies and a Fashion Faux-Pas on Franklin St.

Last weekend, Jon and I decided to go to brunch in Greenpoint once again. He rode his bike and I rode my trike to The Brooklyn Label for delicious eggs. If you haven't tried their cardamom capuccino, you're missing out! I had some red flannel hash and read the Sunday Styles while Jon took the Week in Review. The day started all nice and quiet, but adventure was close by... Rean on...
I decided to don some Sunday-worthy attire, which apparently means the same denim skirt over and over... I wore:
Vintage Denim Skirt from Beacon's Closet
Vintage Cropped White Blouse from Franny & Roey
Vintage Gucci Belt, passed down from my mom
Vintage Cordovan Clutch from the Market Publique House Store
Vintage Rochas Oversized Shades from Beacon's Closet
Vintage Gold Sandals, hmmm... can't remember where I got these...

Jon wore his new (vintage) Le Tigre shirt I got him for his birthday! (from super-sweet seller Plumberry Vintage)
After brunch we headed over to Eagle Street Rooftop Farm to check out the amazing Greenpoint-grown produce. We scored some delicious tomatoes and felt transported into the country while walking around the field. Isn't it amazing that they we can grow our own food on rooftops?! They're looking for volunteers, so you can get involved! Plus they sometimes have pickling classes and the like...

Mmmm... Summer heirloom tomatoes...

Some thyme and other herbs from the rooftop farm.

Jon decided to go home, but I discovered a bunch of cool little boutiques on Franklin St., so I stayed behind to snap some pictures for an upcoming mini shopping tour of Franklin St.... coming soon!
Everything was going quite well, the weather cooperated and I has having a nice Sunday afternoon... until I got back on my trike to ride home...

Alas, being the novice rider that I am, I got my long vintage denim skirt stuck into the chain of my trike....

I texted for help, as I could not get it unstuck. While waiting for Jon, a good samaritan named Adam and his dog Dash came to the rescue.

Armed with a steak knife from a nearby restaurant, we sawed away the hem of my skirt... I guess I won't be donning it over and over so much any more! Well, until I get it re-hemmed, that is!

So much for looking cute while you ride, huh? Ah, the perils of the fashion faux-pas! I tied my long skirt in a knot to prevent it from getting jammed again and rode on home... to better dressed days, hopefully!
